Blackboard Ultra: Transition to Ultra
Transition Overview
¶«¾©ÈÈ Online partnered with an Online and Faculty task force in Spring of 2023 to complete an LMS evaluation. In that evaluation, it was determined that the best move would be to Blackboard Ultra from Blackboard Original. This update provides faculty and students with a more modern, intuitive, and responsive interface. Blackboard Ultra puts an emphasis on meeting accessibility needs as well.
Since Spring of 2023, ¶«¾©ÈÈ Online worked to communicate to faculty and students about the change to Blackboard Ultra. We built an updated template to fit the Blackboard Ultra environment. Additionally, we have created training materials and conducted daily training sessions with faculty on Blackboard Ultra. Finally, we created a 20-minute virtual training video to orient students to the Ultra Environment before they start their classes. Students who are taking Ultra classes are locked out of their class until they complete the video and are marked as online ready.
While doing the behind-the-scenes work, we decided to deploy Blackboard Ultra in stages, starting with two pilot groups in the Summer and Fall of 2024. Following the pilots, we deployed Ultra in all graduate courses in Spring of 2025. We plan to launch Blackboard Ultra in all courses in the upcoming Fall of 2025.
